Hi! I'm Shaté Hayes, a career strategist and storyteller who's passionate about people.
After graduating with a BA in Psychology from Spelman College, I started my career as a professional dancer and choreographer. I performed extensively throughout the U.S. and China, choreographed dozens of productions, and earned an MFA in Dance before becoming an adjunct professor.
I’ve authored several books as well as 100+ career and business articles published in global publications. In 2015, I founded The Working Dancer, an online career resource for artists, before transitioning to a corporate role leading a high performing career programs team and global ERG. From there, I became an executive at a non-profit leading the delivery of career programs for working adults from historically excluded populations.
My experience has taught me the power storytelling has on the growth of a career or business. So I founded Career Steward to help professionals and organizations with great causes tell better stories so they can win the contracts, clients, or influence that matters most to them.
Because it's the people that matter most to me. I want to help us all honor our strengths, be proud of what we've accomplished, and be good stewards of the work we're called to do.
